Preferably around 4 months old, we can use special radiograph techniques called PennHip to identify puppies at risk. The JPS surgery is an outpatient surgery that can help correct this deformity as they grow and has about a 90% chance of preventing hip dysplasia. This procedure must be done by 5 months of age to be effective.
